Meet the artists of the inaugural Arrived Photo Exhibition in Oakland, Ca. 2022

Meika Ejiasi

Meika is new to the Bay Area by way of Philly. She specializes in stories that can be found across delicious foods, the places we enjoy them in and the people who prepare them. She likes to capture bright, warm images that evoke positive emotions and the happiest of memories. This exhibition is a way for her to dive head first into the welcoming arms of the Oakland creative community.

Nate King

Nate is an American photographer based in Oakland, California. Native to Detroit, MI, his photography aims to evoke nostalgic moments from his surrounding environment. His imagery is highly localized, with the goal of people not only recognizing the spaces that are photographed, but also feeling what it’s like to have been there. This exhibition is a way for him to share how we can identify the beauty in the spaces we occupy.

Zoë Law

"As a photographer, I've been on the search for my niche, brand, aesthetic, not even realizing that, that journey is going to be a 'that's life' type of thing. I am always changing and so will my craft. I was thirteen when I 'found my passion' for photography, now it's a part of my life. Portraiture is my way of connecting with people on a different level, you see their vulnerable side. Street photography helps me connect with myself, because what I show reflects my state of mind. I'll let you know what photobokks bring out in me; my art, life." -Zoë

Nathan Lawer-Yolar

Nathan is a Ghanaian-American photographer based in West Virginia who uses photography to connect people, show Blackness in a positive light, and document daily life. He is interested in building bridges across the diaspora and linking these bridges to the motherland. This exhibition is an opportunity for him to share a small part of what he sees Blackness as.

Tobi Oluwo

Tobi is a Nigerian-American photographer based in Oakland, Ca.. His photography focuses on light and the various amorphous/geometrical forms it casts upon organic & inorganic subjects. The goal is to show the emotions & ephemeral moments in time. This exhibition is a forum for him to share how he sees beauty in shadows, and the light at the end of the tunnel.

Connie Chen

Connie W. Chen is a writer and photographer from the Bay Area. She enjoys exploring ways of showing subtext or the unspoken behind a certain image. Shooting film helps her appreciate the sense of the unkown, present in the moment of creation.
