Hey there 👋🏾

My name is Nate King, and I'm one of the Co-Founders of the Arrived Creative Collective along with my friend and founder Nathan Lawer-Yolar.

We are a (new!) grassroots non-profit organization with a mission to create space for emerging artists and creatives to find community, access resources, and gain exposure with their work. Okay, but what does this mean?

Both Nathan and I do photography in our free time. We've had many discussions around how confusing it can be to navigate how to "make it" as an artist. How do we get clients? How do we show our work in galleries? Who do we even connect with? We quickly realized that many very talented, aspiring artists had the same questions, and were navigating this industry alone. So, we simply asked "Why don't we just create our own gallery show?" From there, we started working on putting together our first art exhibition.

We decided to call the exhibition "Arrived" because we believe that the talented artists already exist; they're here. We believe you don't need validation from a prestige gallery to prove your worth as an artist. If you're creating art that is meaningful to you, you've already made it. You've arrived.

Our first show debuted in April 2022 in West Oakland, California at the house of Xavier Cunningham, who recently became the Chairman of our Board (back then we simply knew him as the husband of a friend who graciously let us use their home for such a wild idea). The first show was a huge success, not only because we were able to feature local Bay Area artists and raise money to donate to the Oakland School of Arts, but because we were able to harness this strong sense of community. For guests visiting the show, it was refreshing to see a gallery show that was accessible to them in their neighborhood. For the artists, it gave them their first opportunity to show their work in a public setting, and helped them build the confidence to further pursue their passion. From then, we knew we had something special.

In the fall of 2022, we hosted our second show in Detroit, MI. This show was built on the shoulders of everything we learned from the inaugural one and applied it to this show. The show featured 3 brilliant photographers from Detroit.

Heading into 2023, we decided to make Arrived more official. In the summer of last year, we hosted our third and biggest Arrived show in Brooklyn, New York, featuring 10 artists, and two musical performances; and donating proceeds to Arts For All, a local nonprofit. Shortly after, we formed the Arrived Creative Collective, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the fall, with the hope of continuing our mission to empower emerging artists at various stages of their artistic journey.

Our primary offering is curating unique gallery and showcasing experiences for local artists to help them grow as artists. We also believe in giving back to the community, and donating proceeds from our art exhibitions to a local non-profit where the show is held.

If you are interested in learning more, we'd love to connect with you. We look forward to working together!
